Do we have a breakthrough? What awaits us in 2025?

The Chinese manufacturer CATL, which supplies batteries, e.g. for Tesla, presented a sodium-ion battery, which is to revolutionize electromobility.

Sodium-ion batteries are less expensive and do not require hard-to-find raw materials such as lithium and cobalt. In addition, the CATL battery is more durable, performs better in winter and is less prone to fires. Mass production of new batteries is to start in 2023, which may accelerate the development of electromobility and mitigate criticism related to the problematic aspects of the production of currently used batteries.
