Will rare metal research move beyond our planet’s borders?
NASA has announced its plans for mining resources on the lunar surface over the next decade. As part of the Artemis program, NASA plans to begin researching the moon’s resources. Initially, they are to focus on the amounts of oxygen and water available, later to be expanded to include iron and rare earth metals.
The director of the Space Resources Utilization Division at NASA, explained that with the help of this research, space exploration capabilities will be developed and the availability of energy resources on the lunar surface will be accurately determined. The goal will be to attract investment to implement new space projects.
